An electric motor driven drawing frame or other textile machine is controlled by a single switch 1 enclosed with the driving mechanism (not shown) of the machine by hinged side, top and rear safety covers 12, 13, 14, the switch having a plunger 2 operated by a radial arm 3 carried by a spindle 4 extending across the machine and having operating handles 6, (7) (Fig. 3, not shown) each end which, to close the switch (for normal machine operation), are downwardly moved against a stop 18 to a position which obstructs and prevents inadvertent opening of the side covers 12, the top and rear covers 13, 14 additionally acting through a cam and pin 21, 33 and chain 22 respectively to open switch 1, when either cover 13 or 14 is opened, by moving the arm 3 transverse to the spindle 4 axis via a pin and slot connection 29, 30 such that when the cover 13 or 14 is closed the handles 6, 7 must be at or returned to the opened switch position for re-engagement with the switch plunger 2 after which the switch may again be closed by the handles 6, 7 for normal operation, a magnet 28 co-operating with a keeper arm 26 on the spindle 4 to hold the switch 1 closed in this position. |
