A headphone apparatus (1) the acoustic characteristics of which can be easily changed in accordance with the type of content the user wants to listen to. The adjusting knob (7) provided on the housing is moved, closing the opening (21) made in the baffle (11; 12). As a result, the acoustic space defined by the inner side of the baffle and the ear pad is more closed, thus increasing, in level, the low-frequency components generated by the sound-generating unit. Hence, the acoustic characteristics of the apparatus can be easily changed as the user desires.
