PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating system having a low running cost. SOLUTION: This heating system has a heat pump heat source machine 9 for heat-exchanging the refrigerant of a heat pump cycle with water heat medium through a heat exchanger 3, and sending the water heat medium; an indoor radiator 10 performing cooling and heating by the water heat medium carried from the heat pump heat source machine 9; an auxiliary heat source heating means 4 for heating the water heat medium; and a control means 11 for controlling the operations of a compressor 7 and the auxiliary heat source heating means 4. The control means 11 calculates, in heating, a target water heat medium temperature to be intended from a set temperature set by a room temperature setting means 15 and the room temperature from a room temperature detection means 14, and determines the excess or deficiency of heating capability by the change in the difference between the detection temperature by a water heat medium temperature detection means 12 for detecting the temperature of the water heat medium and the target water heat medium temperature. The heating means 4 is operated when the change tends to stabilize or increase, and the temperature of the water heat medium does not reach the target water heat medium temperature, and the heating means 4 is stopped if not so.
