<p>Chlorinated polyesters, with good electrical properties, suitable for electrical insulation and virtually non-flammable, soluble in strong solvent (o-dichlorobenzene) but insoluble in most organic solvents, and easily workable, are of formula: (-CO-(R')a-CO.O-R-O-)n' where R' is a phenylene residue with some H opt. replaced by Cl or possibly partly consists of an opt. branched, saturated alkylene residue with 1-10C, a is 0 or 1, n is an integer from 30-300, pref. 50-255, and R is a bivalent residue of formula (I): which is opt. partly (pref. to 4-80 mol. %) replaced by (II) or (III): (where X is Br or Cl, Y is -O-, -CO-, -S-, -SO2- or an (alkyl or phenyl substd.) methylene residue, b, c and e are 0 or 1, d is 2, 3 or 4, R2 and R3 are H, or one is H and the other an alkyl residue with 1-5C). The polyesters are prepd. in known manner.</p> |
