Surface-modified sillca gels

Surface-modified silica gel (I) which is characterised by its effect on the viscosity of a 2-component reference paint, in that such paint containing 10.7 wt% (I) shows a thixotropic index (TI 6/60) of 4.5 or less after storage for 1 day at 23[deg]C and 50% RH. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method (M1) for the production of (I) by modifying the surface of silica gel with a polymer (2) paint formulations containing (I).
