The stencil has a clamping unit (23) for clamping the printing stencil (20) into a fastening device. An incision (25) is provided centrally at two opposite sides of the printing stencil at outer edges of the sides. The outer edges are bent to form a direct contact of a contact unit of the fastening device to the clamping unit. The stencil is made of high grade steel sheet with a central region (21) and a border region (22). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a printing stencil.
