<p>Basic substd. phenylacetonitriles of formula: (I) where A, B, C = H, halogen, OH, lower alkoxy or 2 together may form methylenedioxy, but at least one must be OH. R, R1 = lower aliphatic gps. m = 1 or 2 and their salts. alpha-Isopropyl-alpha-((N-methyl-N-homoveratryl)-gamma-aminopropy- l)-3,4-dimethoxyphenylacetonitrile (I, A1=B1=A2=B2=CH3O; C1=C2=H; R=CH3; R1=iC3H7; m=2) (122.8 g; 0.25 mole) was mixed with 48% aqs. soln. of HBr (570 cc, 843 g i.e. 405 g. HBr, 5 X 0.25 mole) and boiled under N2 for 14 hrs until evolution of CH3Br ceased (22.1 l.) After further 5 hrs. heating and standing in refrigerator, I(A1=B1=A2=B2=OH; C1=C2=H; R=CH3; R1=iC3H7; n=2) hydrobromide (93.7 g, 78%) was obtained;.</p> |
