The kiln (10) with calibrating equipment (26) has a temperature recording element (12) which is calibrated using a calibrating equipment. The calibrating element is used to calibrate a temperature sensor (28) at a number of points of temperature, in particular one or two in number. The melting point temperature of a pure material e.g. metal is essentially one of the points of calibration.
