<p>A method for protecting confidentiality of communications made over electronic devices comprising the steps of:
<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none" compact="compact"><ListItem>defining, for at least one user of a terminal device, a private user profile that can be accessed exclusively by said user;</ListItem><ListItem>recognizing an incoming or outgoing communication identifier and verifying its association with a private user profile;</ListItem></UnorderedLists></p><p>if an association exists, filtering the incoming or outgoing communication so as to make it invisible to other users that are different from the user with whose private profile the incoming or outgoing communication is associated.
