An improved trim part (12), e.g. a bolster or trim plate, with integrated appliqu’ (14 for use in a trim assembly (8), and a continuous two-shot molding operation that may be performed utilizing a single mold assembly (42), are provided. The trim part (12), i.e. a bolster, includes a substrate (24) formed by mating a male portion 50 of a core 48 with a shot mould cavity 44 and injecting a first material (26) in a first shot of a molding operation. An appliqu’ (14) is provided in a second shot mold cavity (46). The substrate 26, carried on portion 50, is moved to mate with cavity 46 and form a second shot mould chamber 66 about at least a portion of the substrate 26 and applique 14. A cover (28) is then formed between the substrate (24) and appliqu’ (14) by injecting into a mold chamber (66) a second foamed material (30) in a second shot of the molding operation. The formed cover (28) is integrally molded to at least a portion of the substrate (24) and the appliqu’ (14) to form a trim part (12) with integrated appliqu’ (14). |
