[Also in Division B4] A cattle stunner comprises a breech mechanism 220 (identical with that of the tool of Figs. 1-10, not shown (see Division B4) in cluding a rotary cylinder 228 having three cartridge chambers (only one being shown) for receiving cartridges 230 from a cartridge in feed position (not shown) and for transporting the received cartridges from the infeed position to a firing position, a collar 206 slidable axially relative to the barrel 208, means 212, 214 for rotating the cylinder in one direction in dependence on movement of the collar on the barrel, and a captive piston 220. When the stunner is forced against an animal the collar moves rearwardly relative to -the barrel 208 and'the drive means causes a chamber to move from the infeed position to the firing position (Fig. 11a). When the tool is withdrawn the cylinder will again be rotated by the drive means to move the chamber previously in the firing position to an eject position, and the next chamber to the infeed position. |
