A signal reception section (11) receives an analog signal via a twisted pair cable (31). An A/D converter (12) converts the analog signal into a digital signal. A phase detector (14) detects a phase of the digital signal and generates a reception timing signal. According to the reception timing signal, a transmission timing generation section (15) controls the timing when a transmission processing section (16) outputs the digital signal so that a predetermined phase difference is present between the reception signal (point A) and the transmission signal (point D). According to this timing, the transmission processing section (16) outputs the digital signal which has been subjected to data mapping and input from a connection device (20). A D/A converter (17) converts the digital signal into an analog signal. A signal transmission section (18) transmits the analog signal via a twisted pair cable (32).
