It is intended to enlarge a peak frequency for high sound absorption coefficient. A sound absorbing structure comprises a concave-convex plate (2) having a convex section (3), a concave section (4) and an opening (5), a closure plate (1) joined to the concave-convex plate (2) in such a manner as to form a hollow portion (6) communicating with the outside space through the opening (5) by closing the convex section (3) or concave section (4), and first and second porous plates (11, 12) having a number of through holes (11a, 12a) and serving to divide the hollow portion (6) into divisional spaces.
