PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture imaging apparatus capable of freely switching media of recording destinations for animation data and still picture data. SOLUTION: The picture imaging apparatus includes a selection means capable of selecting a first or second mode, the first mode being a mode wherein the moving picture is stored in an HDD 15 and static images are recorded on a memory card 106 and the second mode being a mode wherein dynamic images and the static images are recorded on the same selected medium.
