PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that cost cannot be reduced and a size cannot be miniaturized since a conventional bidirectional switching element is formed by preparing two switching elements in the same size. SOLUTION: The switching element is provided with the main first switching element where current paths are formed in two directions, a second switching element switching a parasitic diode and forming the current path when the first switching element is turned off and a third switching element. The second and third switching elements require only small chip sizes for making a current flow only in a period of the switching of the current path of the first switching element. Thus, the switching element can be miniaturized and on-resistance can be made low. The size of a protection circuit can be miniaturized by using the switching element for the protection circuit.
