PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a magnesium alloy capable of molding a molded article with a reduced thickness by improving its fluidity, and to provide a method for molding the magnesium alloy. SOLUTION: By weight, 9.5 to 12% aluminum, 0.65 to 1.75% zinc, 0.5 to 1.5% calcium and 0.17 to 0.4% manganese are incorporated into a magnesium alloy molded into a prescribed shape by using an injection molding machine 10 in a state of being heated and melted to a temperature higher than a liquidus line. Further, the balance is composed of magnesium with inevitable impurities. Further, the impurities are composed of≤0.05% silicon,≤0.025% copper,≤0.004% iron and≤0.001% nickel.
