PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily return a clothes-drying member to be horizontal, cancel the detection of a slack detection means and return to a normal state when the clothes-drying member hits an obstacle or the like and is inclined and stopped at the time of vertically moving the clothes-drying member. SOLUTION: For the vertically movable clothes-drying apparatus, a pair of wires 6 are wound around the winding drum 5 of a motor 4 arranged on a ceiling 1 so as to be freely wound and rewound, the pair of wires 6 are respectively connected to both end parts of the clothes-drying member 7 and hung through a pulley 16, and the clothes-drying member 7 is vertically moved by the winding and rewinding of the wires 6 to the winding drum 5. In the apparatus, a slack detection means S for detecting the slack of the wire 6 is provided near a pair of pulleys 16 and a control part 11 for performing control so as to reverse the rotation of the motor 4 for prescribed time and then stop it at the time of detecting the slack of the wire 6 in the slack detection means S when the motor 4 is rotationally driven and the clothes-drying member 7 is vertically moved is provided.
