METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AGENTS USEFUL FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES

The present invention is directed to methods for identifying agents that are useful for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Examples of such diseases include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease. The methods involve testing such agents against genes or proteins disclosed herein and ascertaining the degree of protection provided by such agents against induction of neuronal cell death. The use of such agents for treating neurodegenerative diseases is also described.
