<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for a lithium ion secondary battery capable of preventing over charge and thermal runaway in high temperature standing and enhancing safety, and to provide the lithium ion secondary battery containing the electrolyte for the lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery contains a positive electrode 13 containing a positive active material capable of reversibly inserting and releasing lithium ions, a negative electrode 15 containing a negative active material capable of reversibly inserting and releasing lithium ions, a separator 14 arranged between the positive electrode 13 and the negative electrode 15, and a nonaqueous organic solvent, a lithium salt, γ-butyrolactone, and halogenated toluene. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
