PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which is high in pixel density capable of correct color unevenness resulting from a variation in transfer characteristics due to an increase in a pixel signal driving speed, and reproducing images of high quality. SOLUTION: The imaging device is equipped with an imaging means which photoelectrically converts the optical image of an object into image signals, a drive control signal generating means which generates control signals of controlling the drive of the imaging means, a reference signal generating means which generates reference signals that are used by the drive control signal generating means, an image signal processing means which applies a prescribed processing to image signals, and a detection means which detects the output state of images formed on the basis of the image signals. The image signal processing means controls and varies the frequency of reference signals generated by the reference signal generating means on the basis of the detection result of the detection means.
