PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source apparatus for an electronic endoscope and the electronic endoscope which do not need a particular harness processing and prevent non-smooth motion of a pair of aperture controlling rotary plates. SOLUTION: A pair of the aperture-angle controlling rotary plates 41 and 42 which adjust a light intensity of illumination by changing an angle of aperture of an opening part between both the plates; and carriers 58 and 61 which hold a first planetary gear 55 and a second planetary gear 70 in the same phase position as a first internal tooth gear 51 and a second internal tooth gear 68 and which are rotatable around a rotational axis of a rotary shutter as a center; are provided. The first internal tooth gear is fixed, a first sun gear 53 is rotatably driven together with the aperture-angle controlling rotary plate 42 by a motor M1, and the second internal tooth gear is driven together with the aperture-angle controlling rotary plate 41 by a phase difference motor M2.
