PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic capacitor which has a high ripple characteristics in a high voltage region and also has a long lifetime characteristics. SOLUTION: The electrolytic capacitor contains an electrolyte inside a capacitor element which is equipped with an anode foil, having a dielectric film consisting of an evenly crystallized layer on aluminum and a layer containing silicon formed on the evenly crystallized layer. The electrolyte contains one or two or more kinds selected from among 1,7-octane dicarboxylic acid, 7-methyl-7-methoxycarbonyl-1,9-decane dicarboxylic acid, 7,9-dimethyl-7,9-dimetoxycarbonyl-1,11-dodecane dicarboxylic acid, 7,8-dimethyl-7,8-dimetoxycarbonyl-1,14-tetradecane dicarboxylic acid, or salts of these as solute, and contains 5-15 wt.% of water. Due to the stability of the evenly crystallized layer and low reactivity between the layer containing silicon and the electrolyte for the electrolytic capacitor, the electrolytic capacitor has high ripple characteristics in a high-voltage region and has proper lifetime characteristics as well.
