PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detecting unit of machine excellent in humidity resistance and directivity capable of miniaturizing, cost reducing and reducing the installation space. SOLUTION: The abnormality detecting unit is constituted of: the air borne ultrasound sensor 1 composed of the piezo electric ceramic oscillator of 40 kHz resonance frequency; the cabinet 4 for housing the signal process unit; the cylindrical case 5 for intensify the directivity for shielding the peripheral sound for intensify the directivity; the contact part 6 to be used in contact with the surface of the objective machinery; and the sensor fixing part 7 composed of vibration-proofing material such as NR, NBR etc. The abnormality detecting unit is installed being in contact with the object machine or opposite to the machine for receiving and storing the ultrasonic sound generated by the machine by the air borne ultrasonic sound sensor 1, and the signal process such as the envelope process, frequency analysis, and frequency conversion etc., are performed by the digital operation of the signal process unit stored in the cabinet 4, thereby the abnormality of the roller bearing device is detected.
