PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate the distance image of an object that does not depend on the ultrasonic reflection factor of a target object, and can analyze the behavior of the object and can track the object easily, in an ultrasonic imaging method and an ultrasonic imaging device. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic imaging device 10 comprises an ultrasonic transmission means 1, and an ultrasonic array sensor 2, in which a plurality of ultrasonic receiving elements 20 are arranged two-dimensionally. The ultrasonic imaging device 10 receives reflected ultrasonic waves, where ultrasonic waves from the ultrasonic transmission means 1 are reflected by the object T, by the ultrasonic array sensor 2, obtains the azimuth and distance of the object, and generates the distance image of the object T. The ultrasonic imaging device 10 comprises a signal amplifying means 3; a delay compositing means 4 for computing distance for each azimuth by delaying and compositing signals; a peak signal extraction means 9 for extracting distance and an azimuth, corresponding to a peak signal in signal strength distribution formed by the strength and azimuth of the obtained signal; and an imaging means 5 for generating distance images, by using the distance and azimuth corresponding to the peak signal by allowing each pixel in a two-dimensional map to correspond to an azimuth.
