PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse device rotatable at high speeds, having no complicated mechanism, reduced in noise and easily maintainable since a belt is simply rotated, and capable of improving the quality of a yarn package, namely, the shape of the wound state thereof. SOLUTION: A belt 57 is rotated in one direction in the state of being stretched across a pair of pulleys 53 and 55 rotatably supported on pulley bases 37L and 37R with a pre-set elongation percentage to reciprocatingly move a traverse guide 63 while maintaining a constant attitude at all times through a rotation followup means 59 installed on a part of the belt 57 and rotated by one turn following one rotation of the belt 57.
