PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in reach type and counterbalance type forklift trucks wherein a vehicle speed is relatively high and a pallet may slide on a fork when a vehicle body is abruptly stopped or abruptly turned. SOLUTION: This forklift truck 1 comprises a pallet lock means 5 for fixing the pallet P supported on the fork 4 to the fork 4 and a control means 32 for controlling the operation of the pallet lock means 5. Moreover, the forklift truck comprises a first sensor S1 as a pallet detection means detecting the presence or absence of the pallet P supported on the fork 4 and a second sensor S2 as a traveling state detection means detecting the traveling state of the forklift truck 1.
