<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device capable of realizing thinness and weight reduction. <P>SOLUTION: The cover integrated lighting device 10 comprises a light source and a light guide plate 12 which introduces the light from the light source from the side end face and emits the light propagating inside from an outgoing face, and the light guide plate 12 serves concurrently as a protection cover.
