PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector for a plastic optical fiber, an optical connector which realizes reduction in the number of parts for the optical connector and in the cost of the parts incidental thereto, which realizes miniaturization and convenient assembling operations through structural simplification, and which also demonstrates a superior holding power when used for a plastic-made optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical connector for a plastic optical fiber is composed of: a housing formed of a metallic planar body; a base material made from a resin material and provided with a shape storable in the housing; and an optical fiber holding member having a shape that can be fitted to the recess provided in the base material made from the resin material. The optical connector is equipped with a pinching holding member made up of a pair of elastic members which are formed by bending the metallic planar body in a manner elastically deformable in a state connected to the housing, and also equipped with a connecting member and an energizing means.
