PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing CPVC having excellent workability and thermal stability by conducting the chlorination reaction in no need of exposure to light and use of swelling agent. SOLUTION: When the chlorination reaction of a vinyl chloride resin is carried out in an aqueous suspension, hydrogen peroxide is continuously or intermittently added to the vinyl chloride resin at an addition rate of 5 to 30 ppm/Hr, as the reaction temperature is kept 60 to 100°C and the partial pressure of chlorine is held at 0.2 to 1 MPa in the reaction vessel.
