The control time reporting process for the valve system (1) involves controlling the gas exchange valves by at least one control valve (MV1, MV2). There is at least one structure-borne noise sensor (70) to detect structure-borne noise. One or more operations of the control valve are detected from the sensor signals, and depending on at least one detected operation of the control valve, the controlled times of the gas exchange valves are reported.
