<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently recovering carbon dioxide, which comprises causing carbon dioxide in combustion exhaust to be efficiently absorbed by a calcium-containing compound with high CO<SB>2</SB>absorption property to give calcium carbonate and thus recovering carbon dioxide. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon dioxide recovery method comprises causing carbon dioxide in combustion exhaust to be effectively absorbed by a calcium-containing compound with high CO<SB>2</SB>absorption property to give calcium carbonate and thus recovering carbon dioxide in the form of calcium carbonate. Ca(OH)<SB>2</SB>obtained by reacting CaO with water or water vapor is further heated for dehydration to generate CO<SB>2</SB>. The thus generated CO<SB>2</SB>is allowed to coexist with carbon dioxide in combustion exhaust under conditions of a temperature between room temperature and 800°C and a pressure of 30 atmospheres to give calcium carbonate, thereby recovering carbon dioxide. Furthermore, CaCO<SB>3</SB>removed from the combustion exhaust is decomposed to generate CaO. The CaO is then caused to react with water or water vapor for conversion of CaO into Ca(OH)<SB>2</SB>. The Ca(OH)<SB>2</SB>is then heated for dehydration for conversion of the Ca(OH)<SB>2</SB>into CaO. The thus obtained CaO is returned into the combustion exhaust. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
