<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution effectively suppressing occurrence of a ghost phenomenon in an image forming apparatus carrying out image formation by developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 1 has a transfer bias level applied between a transfer roller 61 and a photoreceptor drum 62 set to a ghost occurrence level so that the ghost phenomenon occurs in a non subject region which is different from a subject region for forming of a developer image on a tansfer member by control of a control part 90. Then, the developer image as a test pattern is formed on the transfer member by carrying out an image forming action transferring the developer image by applying the transfer bias set to the "ghost occurrence level" with a transporting member for transporting a medium for recording or a material for recording as the transfer member. Next, the density of the developer image attached to the non subject region in formation of the test pattern is detected, the ghost occurrence level and a transfer bias level in which no ghost phenomenon occurs based on the density level of the developer in the non subject region of the test pattern are estimated and the transfer bias level for image formation according to the estimate is set. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
