<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of charging an accumulator device such as a capacitor by effectively using the electric power of an external power source and improving fixation quality in image formation in a low-temperature environment and an image forming apparatus using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A control section 60 that the fixing device is equipped with charges an auxiliary power unit 3 by the external power source even after continuous paper feeding. Namely, the control section has a mode wherein no DC discharge is carried out and only AC charging is made effective during the continuous paper feeding, and a main power unit 2 supplies electric power for DC charging to the auxiliary power unit 3. Consequently, an accumulating means of the auxiliary power unit can be charged during a temperature rise of a fixing member and the continuous paper feeding by effectively using the electric power of the external power source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
