PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength converter capable of multiplexing pump light and signal light with a low loss. SOLUTION: In the wavelength converter which has the pump light, a fiber grating, an optical circulator and an optical fiber and wherein the signal light and the pump light are multiplexed by the fiber grating and the optical circulator, the pump light is reflected by the fiber grating via the optical circulator and made incident in the optical fiber via the optical circulator again.
