PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method that can simply and effectively remove contamination such as oil and dust adhered and fixed to front and rear surfaces of the stator coil or the rotor coil of a motor without damaging the insulating material of the stator coil or the rotor coil of the motor at low cost, and to provide a cleaning device. SOLUTION: The cleaning method for the motor coil immerses the motor coil 2 into a cleaning tank 1 wherein a cleaning liquid 3 is filled, blows steam 7 into the cleaning liquid 3 from an injection means 4 arranged in the cleaning tank 1, and boils the cleaning liquid 3.
