DEGRADATION INFORMATION RESTORING METHOD AND DEVICE

A technique of correctly restoring the distribution of original information by performing iterative computation using a transfer function including the distribution of degradation information and the phase characteristic of a transfer system. The method of the invention restores original information from degradation information and a transfer function in the frequency space. In this method, the distributions of the degradation information and the original information are assumed as distributions of probability density functions, and the transfer function is assumed as a probability density function of a conditional probability. Using a relational expression based on the Bayes theory about the probability density function, the maximum likelihood original information distribution with respect to the degradation information distribution with respect to the degradation information is computed by iterative computation.
