The machine has a rotor area (2), and a belt conveyor guided in the rotor area for introducing goods such as wood chips to be broken up. A blower (12) is provided for evacuation of the wood chips. A two-way band is provided at a chipping knife, and a cone shaped chipping rotor (4) is swivellably arranged in the rotor area. Each point of a cutting edge (7) of the chipping knife describes an orbit with different radius.
