<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus utilizing a judder map and a method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus utilizing a judder map is provided with a field storing unit for receiving the image signal of an interlaced format consisting of a plurality of temporally consecutive fields from the outside and storing the received signal; a film detection unit for receiving the plurality of temporally consecutive fields from the field storing unit, and detecting whether or not an input image is an image of a film mode; a judder map generating unit for detecting judders existing in a predetermined pixel or a predetermined block from a plurality of adjacent fields among the plurality of temporally consecutive fields received from the field storing unit, and generating a judder map; and an image interpolating unit for utilizing the judder map to perform image interpolation when it is determined that the input image is an image of a film mode, and generating/outputting an image signal of a progressive format. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
