PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wasteful power consumption of a broadcast receiver after stop of an analog broadcast wave by stopping the supply of power to an analog broadcast reception section by a prescribed operation executed just after the stop of the analog broadcast wave in the broadcast receiver capable of receiving analog broadcast and digital broadcast and a broadcast recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiver is constituted of: an analog broadcast reception processing section 1 for receiving an analog broadcast and demodulating the analog broadcast into a video audio signal; a digital broadcast reception processing section 2 for receiving a digital broadcast and extracting a video audio stream; a video audio decode section 3 for decoding the video audio stream into a video audio signal; and a switch section or the like for selecting and outputting the video audio signal in response to the instruction of a channel selection control section from the video audio signal obtained from the analog broadcast reception processing section 1 and the video audio signal obtained from the decode section, the supply of power to the analog broadcast reception processing section 1 is stopped, and functions related to the analog broadcast are invalidated by the prescribed switching operations.
