PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of browsing a plurality of thumbnails of different resolution in a short period of time from video input as to a storage device. SOLUTION: The storage device has a means 7 for sequentially recording inputted video information to recording media, a means 5 fro automatically generating a plurality of thumbnail image data of different resolution from the video information, and a means 6 for sequentially storing the thumbnail image data into recording media, comprises a switch means 204 of connecting the original thumbnail data separated by a means 200 for separating the input video information and main image data selectively to resolution conversion parts 209 and 210 of trailing stages, and compares information on the inputted image data with preset thumbnail request specifications for browsing to perform scheduling control of the switch means 204 according to the comparison result.
