1320123 Blow-moulding; trimming SOLVAY & CIE 15 Jan 1971 [5 Feb 1970] 2115/71 Heading B5A In an extrusion blow-moulding process, the flash at the base of the article is sheared after mould closure by a knife which moves against and across the mould base perpendicularly to its closing plane. In a preferred embodiment, the moulds are double-cavity with the neck parts adjacent and arranged on a rotary table so that a double-edged knife can trim bottom flash from adjacent moulds simultaneously. The knife may be mounted on one arm of a rightangled lever, pivoted at the bend, to move when the other arm is actuated, e.g. by a cam. |
