PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tip rod having both a high flexural strength and high flexibility. SOLUTION: A method for forming the tip rod 1 comprises winding an outer prepreg rod material 1C on the outer periphery of an inside solid bar-like rod material 1B formed by impregnating a reinforcing fiber bundle with a resin to form a tip section rod material, polishing the outer peripheral side of the wound tip section material in a tapered shape, and then curing the polished product. The outer prepreg rod material 1C is formed by paralleling reinforcing fibers having a smaller elastic modulus than that of the reinforcing fibers of the inside solid bar-like rod material 1B and then impregnating the paralleled reinforcing fibers with a resin.
