PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single bearing fishing reel, suppressing play by a simple constitution and improved in spool free rotation performance. SOLUTION: This single bearing fishing reel is provided by burying and fixing the one end 2a of a supporting shaft 2 at the center of one side of an almost circular reel body 1, fitting a pinion 3 on the outer circumference of the supporting shaft 2 as freely movable in the axis direction and also as freely rotatable, and supporting a spool 4 as freely rotatable. A holding member 7 is screw-fitted in a recessed part 4c at the front side of the spool 4, an operation member 8 of a spool attaching/detaching mechanism is inserted into a cylindrical part 7a of the holding member 7, and a brake-adjusting member 9 is screw-fitted on the inner circumference of a cylindrical part 8c of an operating member 8 of the spool attaching/detaching mechanism. A braking member 26 consisting of a frictional member is mounted in a recessed part 9e of the brake-adjusting member 9, and the braking power is adjusted by the turning of a brim part 9b, as the braking member 26 is in a state of being pushed against a head part 2e of the supporting shaft 2.
