A method of producing a finish assembly (114, 120), preform assembly, or container assembly, including placing finish ring (144) over a neck of a plastic preform (112) or container (212), and conjointly radially displacing a portion (136, 138) of the neck (120) and a portion of the finish ring (114) overlying the portion of the neck, such that the portions are nested one within another and prevent at least one of axial and circumferential movement of the finish ring on the neck.
