<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source arranged to allow converting UV radiation emitted by a UV light-emitting diode etc. into visible light at high conversion efficiency without leaking to the exterior. <P>SOLUTION: Primary light 302 emitted by a primary light-generating device 202 such as a UV light-emitting diode etc. is absorbed by a first wavelength converting material layer 206 containing phosphor particles and converted into secondary light 304 having a wavelength different from that of the primary light 302.
