<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of an isolation transformer, by cascade-connecting each gate drive circuit to successively supply an on/off signal through transmission, when supplying the on/off signals to a plurality of semiconductor switching elements that are connected in series, for each arm of a power converter. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of, for example, IGBTs 1 to 4 are connected in series for each arm of a power converter, to successively transmit an on/off signal from a control device 10 via isolation transformers 14 to 11 to the gate drive circuits from the circuit 24, on the low-voltage side up to a high-voltage side circuit 21; thereby, the voltage applied to between the primary winding and the secondary winding of the isolation transformer 11 on the high-voltage side can be reduced to be lower than those of conventional systems, and the capacity of the isolation transformer is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
