PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide film having high migration resistance, and to provide a method for producing the same through drastically reducing metal ionic impurities contained in polyimide film. SOLUTION: The polyimide film obtained by a cast film-forming method is provided. In the polyimide film, the total content of Fe, Ni and Cr is less than 20 ppm. The method for producing the polyimide film involves using a polymerization vessel for obtaining a polyamic acid as the precursor of the polyimide, wherein the liquid contact parts and conveyance pipings of the polymerization vessel are constituted of a material selected from austenitic stainless steel and ferritic stainless steel.
