PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser ignition type engine having an introducing glass body cleaning device and its operation method, capable of reducing useless engine operation manhours caused by removing a pollutant, by removing the pollutant without stopping operation of an engine when removing the pollutant, by preventing the occurrence of ignition failure of gas in a combustion chamber caused by reduction in ignition energy of a laser beam, by avoiding pollution by the pollutant of a surface of a laser beam introducing glass body without stopping the operation of the engine. SOLUTION: This laser ignition type engine is constituted so as to ignite the gas in the combustion chamber by plasma generated by irradiating a target with laser beam from a laser oscillator, arranged in the combustion chamber composed of a main combustion chamber or an auxiliary chamber communicated with the main combustion chamber via an auxiliary chamber nozzle port via the laser beam introducing glass body; and is characterized in that a heating means is arranged for heating a surface of the laser beam introducing glass body, and is constituted so as to incinerate the pollutant sticking to the surface of the laser beam introducing glass body by the heating means.
