PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting testing machine capable of producing a result efficiently in the shortest period of time even when enormous manhours cannot be secured to provide an optimum working condition of a working surface small in surface roughness and clean and at the lowest cost. SOLUTION: This cutting testing machine 10 to provide the working condition to decrease the surface roughness of a work W is furnished with a spindle 7a axially supported on a spindle stock 7 free to rotate and to rotate by holding the work W or a tool, a surface roughness detection means to detect the surface roughness of the work W, a cutting resistance detection means to detect cutting resistance applied on the tool in cutting work and a temperature detection means to detect temperature of the tool in the cutting work.
