1337607 Silver halide emulsions EASTMAN KODAK CO 22 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 10700/71 Heading G2C An emulsion containing silver halide grains of up to 2 microns is produced by simultaneously adding aqueous silver salt and halide solutions to a stirred aqueous solution containing peptizer and ripening agent, the additions being carried out in two stages, less than 40 per cent, preferably less than 20 per cent, of the reactants being added while the precipitation medium is maintained at a temperature of at least 55‹C., preferably at least 70‹C., and the rest of the reactants being added while the precipitation medium is maintained at a lower temperature, preferably at least 20‹C. lower. Other metal ions may be occluded at any convenient stage of precipitation. |
